Short BIO

My name is Paul McLaren and I live in Northern Ontario, with my wife Jennifer Fournier who is also a Graphic Designer. For the last five years we have owned and operated an Independent Bookstore and cafe.

Now you might be asking yourself what do books and coffee have to do with web design? Well, in typical northern fashion we have multiple professions. In order to make the move North we needed to be able to pay the bills, and unfortunately design jobs are not that plentiful up here! So, we opened up shop and now sling coffees, sell books and do design work. We northerners are busy folk.

So where does my fondness for playing with pixels come from? Well I am a graduate of Fanshawe's Multimedia Design & Production course, and the Technical Theatre Production course. I just like creating stuff.

Lately I have been doing a fair bit of freelance web design, and have been filling my spare time and building my portfolio by doing volunteer jobs for friends and non-profit groups.

I usually leave the print work to my wife, but as a web designer I think you should still have a firm grasp on how to use such programs as Illustrator and Photo shop so that you can provide the best service to your clients. Here you will find some of my illustrations that have been used on website's or in print.
